George Albert Kelson (Kjeldsen) and Hanna Hoopes

George Albert Kelson (Kjeldsen) was the first child born to Kjeld Kjeldsen and Ane Christine Kjeldsen (Kelson) Jensen. George's father died in Denmark and George's mother came to America and married John Henry Jensen.

George Albert Kelson married Hanna Hoopes 21 March 1899. If someone asks where George and Hannah lived in Weston, Idaho, they lived in the middle of the square block, west of the Weston ballpark. To get to their house you had to go around the block and come into their house by a lane that came to the back of the house. There was a foot path that went from the front of their house to the street to the east side of the home. South of their home was the home of Jim Nelson. North was the Bill Chatterton home. George and Hannah lived in this home where all of their children were born.

Later the home was destroyed by fire. They then built the home that is now (1970) owned by George Fredrickson.

George was handy with many skills, mechanic, painter, paper hanger, water master, garage owner and hardware and grocery store. George had a store south of the post office. At one time he painted a home in Dayton Idaho. One morning when he came to work the woman was quite concerned with the wet paint, and she said, Mr. Kelson come and see where my husband had his hands last night. George said, oh no, I just came to paint.

George and Hannah were the first to put in a flush toilet in their home. They brought folks in from far and wide to admire it.

George died in his home in Weston Idaho 6 August 1931 after a long illness and it seemed that he lay in a coma for a month before he died.

Hanna later married Tom Clayton. She became nearly blind and deaf before she passed away.  Her funeral services were held in the Preston second Ward Chapel and she was buried in the Weston Cemetery by her husband George and some of her children who had preceded her in death. George and Hanna had 13 children;
